Despite what the producer suggests this is not a competition-only tool. I used it on pure ice, trad mixed routes and a lot of drytooling routes with great success. It greatly exceeds quality and performance of all the other tools I used (x-dreams, ergos, fusions, grivel forces).

The only real con is that it doesn't have a hammer and it isn't possible to make a pick with an integrated hammer for this tool.

Another thing to consider is that if you want to climb easy ice with these tools (<WI5) you might need to grind the upper pommel a bit. On less than vertica climbs it can easily get in the way. I've done it with my tools, works great.
