9.3mm Tommy Caldwell Eco 70m Bipattern 2xDry
Description
We have worked with professional climber and big-wall legend Tommy Caldwell to develop this rope, which is ideal for big walls and demanding routes. Our ColorTec technology creates a clearly recognizable change in color between the two halves of the rope and therefore a durable center mark. Thanks to being made on a braiding machine with 48 bobbins, the rope has a particularly fine sheath structure that offers very pleasant handling and is extremely abrasion resistant despite its thin diameter.
- Low weight, small diameter, and optimum handling
- Durable and easily recognizable center marking thanks to ColorTec
- Long-lasting water-repellent and dirt-resistant thanks to the PFC-free Eco Dry finish
- 3D lap coiling enables instant use without tangles
- Water absorption is less than 2%, according to the UIAA Water Repellent Test

The author needs two hands to count the number of climbers he knows that have been lowered off the end of a rope. Fortunately, none of these accidents ended in tragedy, but many resulted in lower leg injuries and shattered confidence that took months to recover from. In many of these cases, a clear middle mark would have prevented the accident. The Tommy Caldwell Eco Dry 9.3 features the best middle mark we've ever seen and for this reason alone we would highly recommend it. When we add to that its lightweight, considerable durability, and excellent handling, it more than deserves a Top Pick Award.

The real show-stopper for this rope is the bold bi-pattern color scheme: half the cord is red and half is blue. I’ve gotten tons of comments from other climbers who love this design, which makes identifying the middle as easy as can be. Most bi-pattern climbing ropes on the market retain the same colors but just switch up the design. The Tommy Caldwell Eco Dry Color Tec 9.3mm stands out with this really stark color shift. I would have no problem calling this rope the best bi-pattern climbing rope on the market.
