The UIAA equipment standard provides a baseline for equipment performance in a test lab under controlled conditions on new equipment. Although these test conditions are relevant to the conditions encountered climbing, conditions encountered at the crags and the condition of the equipment are equally important. This recommendation from the UIAA member federation The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) provides vital equipment information that is NOT explicitly addressed in the standard, particularly failure modes of the equipment and recommendations for the use, inspection, maintenance, and retirement of equipment.
HMS Screw Big
Description
HMS carabiners are also an elementary part of climbing equipment even for climbers. The LACD HMS Screw Big is slightly larger in size than most standard HMS carabiners. As a result, the large HMS carabiner sits comfortably in the hand and is easy to operate even with larger hands. The snap-action opening is correspondingly large and with a maximum longitudinal load of 24 kN, the LACD safety carabiner offers high stability. The HMS Screw Big is securely closed with the screw cap and is suitable for all applications in climbing sports. From toprope in the climbing hall, over high tours, ice climbing to alpine multi-pitches and big walls.
