Description
With a 32kN major axis strength rating, the Zodiac is strong enough for rescue loads and robust to withstand intense use by groups and centres. It is relatively light and compact for a rigging carabiner, making it easy to transport. A design that forces loads toward the spine, matched with its high strength rating, make the Zodiac appropriate for high load scenarios.
Rigging carabiners are used at critical connection points in rigging and anchor systems. They are built to be strong, and have large gate openings, internal volumes, and extended rope baskets. This makes them easier to handle with gloves on, and allows them to accommodate thick ropes, and multiple knots or slings.
D-Shaped carabiners encourage loading in their strongest orientation by forcing loads toward the carabiner spine. An Offset D refines this basic design by extending the top bar, increasing internal volume. This improves handling and compatibility with thick ropes and slings.
The nose design on these carabiners helps them resist shearing forces and achieve high side loading strength ratings. Taperlock is an evolution of our Keylock design, which gives a clean internal profile that prevents snagging on gear, bolts and slings.
I-Beam construction techniques allow carabiners to be lighter without compromising strength. This is achieved through hot forging, a process which allows metal to be made into complex shapes that improve functionality.
