Cryo P
Description
The CRYO P ice axe by e-climb.com is the ultimate ice axe for the most demanding climbers. Extremely lightweight and versatile. It comes standard with the ADZE. Very well-balanced. CRYO ice axes can mount two types of picks: The type 2 “T” ICE pick, which comes standard with the axe, is perfect for alpinism and cascades. And the type 2 “T” DRY pick, especially designed for dry-tooling.
It can also mount 4 different types of hand-rest: The SPIKELESS hand-rest, and is specially designed for a safer dry-tooling activity, preventing pricks in case of fall. The SPIKALPIN hand-rest, which is perfect for classical alpinism and cross-country skiing. The SPIKEFALL hand-rest, which is perfect for extreme alpinism, vertical ice climbing and mixed climbing, thanks to its spikes’ greater tilt and a very good grip for piolet-traction. It prevents annoying pricks on your knees. Lastly, the SPIKE hand-rest, which comes standard, is a classical hand-rest, perfect for alpinism and mixed terrains, with an excellent grip on piolet-traction.

The Cryo swings well. At 1.3 pounds, it's extremely light, and the narrow shaft is great for people with small hands. I also think that the tip of the pick is too far forward of the hand. When you place the tool, you feel like you are miles away from the ice -- good for keeping your knuckles away from the ice, but bad for keeping your weight under the pick. The Cryo is a decent tool that only suffers from trying to be too nifty.
This video goes over the features of the Cryo including the removable trigger (Trig), interchangable spikes, ice and dry picks, hammer and adze, among others. It also touches on the various grips and uses.
