This thing resembles my academic career, mediocre performance and squandered potential.

Pros
Allows you to rack ice screws and tools on a harness without clipper slots(which is most harnesses on the market).
Cons
The little tab on the end of the metal clip slides off of the clip as the end isn't pined over and there's nothing to stop it. This causes the whole thing to fall off, which defeats the whole purpose and can make things pretty inconvenient. ...
Familiarity
I’ve used it a few of times

I live in Southern Illinois and only get to ice climb once or twice a year if I'm lucky. During the short window I try to maximize my time on the ice. I recently retired a harness that had clipper slots on it, and am wearing a Petzl harness without clipper slots. I thought that these would be a great option, especially since the times they get used are rare. They work fine for a bit but shoulkd you sit down to put on crampons or have your back against the rock in a chimne, etc, the tab on the metal closure rod slides off the end of the rod and the caritool can fall off. I'm no engineer but I wish there was a better way to leep the rod on. Maybe pining the end of the rod so the plastic thing doesn't slip off. In the end however I don't use it that much so it'sa probably not a big deal. I got 2 for pretty cheap and it was much cheaper than buying a new harness when i didn't need one.
