These shoes are ideal for climbers with a classic “duck foot” who play on slightly to moderately steep terrain that demands powerful edging. And with the Quantum VCS, they can do it all day in comfort.go to full review

I think the Climbing Technology Nuptse Evo are a great all round crampon, with a tried and tested binding system and robust anti-balling plates. There is nothing particularly exciting or innovative about them - however this is no bad thing as the they follow a classic design, which isn't broken, and therefore didn't need fixing! The crampons are perfect for any climbers/mountaineers who want one crampon to do everything. They will work well in all settings, from introductory winter walking..." go to full review

If I was heading somewhere like Kalymnos or Chulilla, where the routes are long and the focus would be on onsights and quick redpoints, then the Swift would undoubtedly be the only rope I'd take with me. In the Alps its weight, combined with its gold star 'Pro Dry' treatment, make it an ideal choice for everything from glacier travel to north faces. Durability-wise it belies its diameter by packing a serious punch, with a solid structure and an impressively robust feel. Finally, we can't..." go to full review

The Synergy is an excellent choice for bouldering outdoors and indoors. It manages to retain the advantages of a soft shoe - sensitivity, maximum contact and flexion - whilst maintaining enough stiffness and precision to perform well on edges, as you would expect from a stiffer shoe. In addition it's comfortable, albeit fairly high volume and, whilst specifically a bouldering shoe, it's a great choice for any rock (or plastic) type.go to full review

For pure ice and light mixed duty these tools just feel right. They are easy to swing on low angle and they excel on steep ice, especially WI4-5’s. As a devoted weekend warrior these are now my go to tools. I had a chance to take a few laps on the aluminum version (Tech Machine) which was very similar, however with the Carbon version I felt fewer vibrations on any given swing, as the carbon felt just a little more damp. If only Grivel can figure make a length adjustable handle for the large..." go to full review

Last season, I heard many friends agree with my sentiments regarding the Petzl Nomic but a large and growing number of friends, whom I hold in high regard, started raving about Cassin’s tool – the X-Dream – for steep ice and rock. I decided I would buy a pair and make up my own mind about the merits of this tool. After a full season, I will definitively state that they are the best ice tool I’ve ever owned, hands down.go to full review

Looking to try climbing but don't want to pay $200 for a pair of foot torture devices? The Momentum is a solid choice for those starting out. That 4.3mm of rubber will come in handy when you're dragging your untrained feet all over the wall, and these shoes will support you weak toes as they develop into strong, edge crushing steel talons. Does your partner train obsessively in the gym and then put his/her stinky climbing shoes in the back of your car? These could make a great gift for that..." go to full review

Our testers prefer a softer downturned shoe for steep climbing, and a more sensitive flat lasted shoe for slab climbing, and the Focus didn't really hit it out of the park for any of us like classics from Scarpa and La Sportiva. If it's a stiff shoe you're after, this could be the one; just remember to size up from your street shoe if you're ordering online and can't try them on in a shop.go to full review

These sleek looking race car shoes are a great choice for your next Euro limestone odyssey, where they will help you flow up steep limestone by day and send-celebratory cheap wine flow down your satisfied gullet at night, along with snails or whatever. For the blue-collar all-American trad warriors out there, do yourself a favor and buy a stiffer pair of climbing shoes.go to full review
