We were impressed by the Gomi overall. A soft midsole, a toe box fully encased in rubber, and a comfortable fit make this shoe a great option for gym climbing or your next toe-hook-ridden cave project. We found them to be better at smearing and scumming than edging, so the Gomi is perhaps not the ideal shoe for vertical terrain or slabs. A reasonable price tag and durable construction round out this solid Velcro slipper.go to full review

The Maestro Mid Eco gets our Top Pick for All-Day Comfort and Crack Climbing due to its impressively comfortable yet still high performing design. The medium-stiff shoe can edge, smear, jam, and smedge — helping you get up most any multi-pitch rock climb out there. The high ankle protects the ankles from scraping and bashing as you grovel up that dreaded off-width pitch, and provides support for that time you decide to forego carrying approach shoes and end up bushwhacking for hours while..." go to full review

These shoes are impressive in many ways. In terms of a soft, aggressively shaped slipper meant for high-performance, steep rock climbing, we were hard-pressed to find anything on the market that compares to the Solution Comp. They combine comfort, fit, and design into a tight, stylish package that makes any climber want to try hard. We especially liked the updated toe box, which is slightly wider and has a bit more rubber on top when compared to the classic Solution. The modified heel also..." go to full review

The Black Diamond airNET was made in collaboration with Adam Ondra and serves as a high-end competition and sport climbing harness. For the very experienced climber looking to shed weight at all costs, it is a very innovative and comfortable addition to the quiver. For the rest of us, a more versatile option with the ability to carry more gear is likely a smarter choice.go to full review

The Edelrid Sendero wins our Editors' Choice award for the best all-around harness because it is versatile, and has the feature set you need for any style of climbing. It is lightweight, functional, and also quite affordable, considering the level of performance offered. While it is marketed as an alpine harness, we recommend it for anyone who wants a single harness that can easily meet all of their needs.go to full review

For sport climbing and gym climbing where you don't need a ton of storage space on your gear loops or a ton of padding on your leg loops, the Alnasca is hard to beat. This is a well-designed lightweight model made for gym climbing. Its wide mesh waistband distributes weight well, without inhibiting movement. The leg loops are sleek enough to wear this harness around for hours without hardly noticing it's there. The belay loop is definitely sleek — almost to the point of worrying about its..." go to full review

WIth larger gear loops, impressive durability, and top-notch hanging comfort, the Black Diamond Solution Guide is our favorite harness for multi-pitch climbing. Though its trade-specific features add a little extra bulk, the Solution Guide still functions well as a cragging harness. Whether you're racking up for a 150-foot hand crack in Indian Creek or prepping for a long day of hanging belays, the Solution Guide has all the features needed for trad climbing endeavors big and small. The Edelrid Salathe is a viable lightweight helmet that offers impact protection from the top, sides, and rear, making it one of the best and most versatile options. While it is nearly double the price of the least expensive helmets, we think you are far more likely to wear your helmet, and enjoy wearing it, with a lightweight foam option such as this one.go to full review

I love my Scarpa Vapor V’s. They perform almost as well as any style-specific shoe (with the exception of crack climbing), and are easily the most versatile pair I own. They’re comfortable, breathable, sticky, and durable. If I have to pick any one pair of shoes for a day at the crag, these are usually my first choice.go to full review

Designed as a ‘comfort performance shoe,’ the Scarpa Vapor Vs are ready to take on any challenge that you throw at them. These great all-around shoes are versatile enough to excel at everything from steep faces to crack climbing, while keeping your feet happy for those lengthy climbing sessions. A slightly wider-than-average toe box may lead to sizing issues for some users, but if you can dial in the sizing, the Scarpa Vapor V may just become your new favorite shoe.go to full review
