Description
Steel climbing ice screw
The climbing ice drill is used for insurance when passing ice routes. Available in two variations: 12 cm and 18 cm long.
It has a unique tooth shape - "cat's claw" - which, together with other design features, ensures easy screwing of the ice screw even in hard winter ice.
In the manufacture of the ice drill, SDE technology (compression of the drill to reduce the inner diameter of the cutting edge) is used.
Steel ice drills "Ural-Alp" are made of special structural steel, which allows you to harden the product to the extent that it does not become brittle (brittle), and at the same time allows you to create the desired rigidity and "keep" high-quality sharpening of the teeth. In this case, only part of the drill is subjected to hardening - the teeth and the thread. And the part of the drill above the thread remains more plastic in order to better hold the dynamic load when the climber falls.
The ice drill has a movable steel eye, on which a handle can be mounted for quick twisting.
In order for the drills not to rust, the products are covered with a durable and wear-resistant coating - chemical nickel.
For steel ice drills "Ural-Alp" two additional devices are available: a removable lever for quick twisting and a sliding titanium eye , which is used on rocks covered with thin ice.
