Mystix
Description
After a long development period, we would like to introduce a new member to our high-end range, developed together in close cooperation with our top athletes. The MYSTIX is a high-end climbing shoe with a powerful downturn for steep to extreme overhanging routes in the climbing gym and at the crag. Built on an aggressive and pointed last, the shoe allows very precise footwork on vertical and overhanging terrain. It offers great support on small edges while remaining flexible enough to impress in modern bouldering gyms which often possess many large volumes and slopers. In order to achieve these properties, the MYSTIX features a midsole which was specially developed using CAD Software. In addition, the strong downturn optimally supports the foot muscles in steep terrain. The crossed Velcro strap closure system permits individual adjustment with one quick pull. The MYSTIX is quick to take on and off without compromising on performance. In order to achieve even more feeling when stepping onto a hold, the toe area has been designed to be particularly soft. Additionally, the shoe features an extra sensitive Vibram XS Grip sole (3.5 mm). The toe area is made partially from leather, so that this part adjusts even more to the individual toe shape. The foot stays cool thanks to a breathable tongue made from fine, elastic knitted fabric.

2 years later and the Mystix is still an incredibly attractive, contemporary proposition, aimed at the high-end bouldering market with technically specific design features to streamline performance on modern, indoor problems. Powerfully downturned and rather stiff for a modern shoe, the Mystix felt like a weapon on my foot right out of the box with a pronounced point at the toe end of the shoe to dominate holds on overhanging terrain. This was where the Mystix truly thrived, clawing footholds both indoors and out superbly with enough rigidity through the 3/4 length ‘RC-FLEX’ midsole to efficiently drill the power down, especially on overhanging rock like my local limestone.
Limestone aficionados and fans of pockety face will love the Mystix—they have a long, stiff, balletic toe married with an aggressive downturn and visibly asymmetrical (“banana”) last that yielded big power for steeps and precise micro-standing. Lasted for lower-volume feet, the Mystix have a supportive, CAD-drafted, two-zone RC-Flex midsole and a 3.5mm XS Grip Sole that offered reliable smearing for a stiffer shoe, while a wide, single-pull Velcro strap made for easy-adjust sizing. A standout for one tester was the heel rand, which uses softer, form-fitting black rubber infused with a harder red rubber for consistent tension—and “incredibly stable hooking.”
