These are the shoes that I reach for first when I’m heading out for a general day of climbing. Heading out to a crag with a bunch of different levels of climbers, the gym, or anywhere else where variety will be the order of the day; these shoes are the ones I go with. I have other pairs with more specialized uses that surpass these shoes in that specific area (for example Solutions are better than this for overhangs, Mythos are better for long easy trad days) , but none have the same versatility as the Scarpa Force X. If you are looking for a quiver of one, or something to round out an otherwise specialized shoe collection, these are definitely worth your consideration.

I enjoy these shoes and would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking to add a new pair to their climbing shoe arsenal. They are affordable, well-made, perform well, and are comfy. A great shoe for both beginners and more experienced climbers.

Being my first pair of climbing shoes, it’s hard to tell how durable these are compared to others, but I’ve worn them quite a bit and they are not really showing much wear and tear. The leather uppers are really well put together and I think the stiffness of the soles will mean the rubber lasts well.

In summary, the Scarpa Force X shoe provides comfort whilst enhancing your technique and they look great too. I would definitely recommend them for a beginner or improver who is climbing regularly and moving up the grades.

Party in the back, business in the front. A stiff, padded heel protects your foot and keeps it happy for hundreds of vertical feet, while a sensitive forefoot and pointed toe boost precision for pockets and edging.

With a flat-lasted sole, suede leather uppers, and padded mesh lining for the heel cup and tongue, this shoe is super comfortable for full days of climbing. And the unlined toe box, tensioned rand, and 4mm Vibram XS Edge sole rubber create sensitivity and power on pockets and edges. After wearing them on moderate routes around Colorado, from Lumpy Ridge granite to Shelf Road limestone, one tester raved, “Without a doubt one of the most comfortable rock shoes I’ve worn all year, if not ever. I could easily go four pitches before even thinking about stretching my toes.” When it came time for a break, the two-strap Velcro closure made it easy to expose those toes, though the tester wished he could tighten the straps more, especially as the uppers began to stretch after a couple of dozen pitches. Available in men’s and women’s models.

Alpinist Gear Review rating 4/5

A well-built, all-around shoe with good performance and excellent comfort, the Force is my go-to shoe for long, moderate routes. While I may not send my biggest numbers in these babies, the shoes' simplicity and comfort will make it hard to leave them at home when I'm packing for my next trip.
