Description

In the line for over 10 years, the Miura is the perfect tool for performance footwork whether it be on slabs, vertical or overhanging steep rock. The high tensioned Slingshot Rand is tied into the Powerhinge on the sole so that when small edges are weighted the shoe stretches in the back half of the shoe and not in the front. This allows you to stick on the smallest edges you can find or imagine! The multi-paneled lining gives you the perfect fit and the speed lacing system laces up in a cinch.

Footbed Lining

Dentex

Dentex

Synthetic rock shoe lining material with two way stretch.

LaspoFlex

Super lightweight, ultra-thin synthetic fiber-laminate designed for maximum torsion rigidity.

Powerhinge

A technology used in climbing shoes where the bottom of the outsole has a hole cut in it. The slingshot rand is then engineered to connect to the sole of the shoe in this area. When the toe of the shoe is weighted on an edge the weight of the climber stretches from the heel forward. The hole cut in the sole causes the shoe to only stretch in the back half of the shoe effectively leaving the toes in place on the surface of the rock.

Slingshot Rand

One-piece rubber rand wraps around the entire foot preventing stretch and driving the foot forward for a powerful forefoot fit.
Vibram® XS Edge Technology

Vibram® XS Edge

Developed to provide maximum edging support, the VIBRAM®XS Edge compound delivers excellent grip while adding improved firmness for the most challenging edging moves. This rubber compound is exceptionally resistant to deformation on razor sharp edges and it will not creep while smearing.

Thin crack and edge expert

Pros
Very thin toe
Laces system easy to tie/untie
Edges super well
Cons
Tend to flatten out with age
Familiarity
I’ve used it a bunch

I absolutely love my muiras for ringlock/finger sizes because of the narrow toe and and edging on faceholds. They do tent to flatten out over a lot of use, but they still are an amazing technical shoe.

The La Sportiva Miura, aka the “Bananas,” is a perennial favorite among climbers, so much so that if Sportiva ever stopped producing them, their Chiquita-brand colors would have to have to be retired in some kind of climbing shoe hall of fame. I’ve been through numerous pairs of the Miura, and they’ve been with me on everything from sport to trad, boulders to big-wall. I have a hard time imagining a better-fitting, better-performing do-it-all-well shoe.

The Miura falls behind the Solution, Futura, or Shaman as a pure high-end sport climbing/bouldering platform. It also lacks the function specific design that makes the TC Pro so good on the big days. But it still does both styles of climbing so well that it could easily stand in on your harder sends with minimal compromise. This shoe is still being used by cutting edge climbers around the world, a testament to it's versatility and longevity in a rapidly expanding sport.

These are great all-around high performance shoes that excel at all types of climbing. Try them on a little small; I'm normally a 42 but I went with a 41 on the Miuras. You'll notice a little extra material that bunches on top of the toes, but it doesn't seem to affect performance and the fit is otherwise very precise.
