Description

For such a skinny and light single rope, the FUSE can withstand the rigors of multiple falls or endless pitches over rough rock. Its burly, tight sheath makes it perfect for sport climbing or fast-and-light adventure climbing. Stiffer than most,it practically clips itself to draws and glides effortlessly through carabiners.

Splitter Choss Gear Review no rating given just a review

Overall, I have to say so far I dig this rope. But then again, what else would you expect from Petzl? With so many ropes to choose from these days, I’d definitely give this one a look if you are thinking about buying a new cord.

Dream in Vertical Logo

After graduating college I was anxious to get a 70meter rope again and bought the 9.4 mm Petzl Fuse. This rope was excellent until it got a core shot in the middle while descending the Incredible Hulk. We got super lucky because while we were unable to retrieve the cord, we ran into another party who hiked it down and I was able to pick it up at the Bridgeport ranger station. Fortunately I was able to salvage the pieces of the Petzl rope and kept the two parts since the rope was still fairly new. I use the shorter section for a lead rope at the gym and the ~35 meter piece is perfect for short sport climbs such as our recent trip the Gallery in Red Rocks.

Rock and Ice Gear Review rating 3.5/5

The Fuse is rated to 6 UIAA falls, and boasts an 8.25 kN impact force, and a dynamic elongation of 34.4 percent—while the numbers make me feel like Jessica Simpson, when I fell on the Fuse, it caught me softer than baby skin. The rope also comes packaged in a butterfly coil, which ostensibly prevents kinks in the cord. I had to flake the rope about five times or so to really get all the twists out, but the gesture is appreciated nonetheless.
