These are great beginner draw. They're light, durable, and comfortable to use. They're currently my go-to sport draw as I am on a budget. There are definitely better draws on the market, but on a budget, thee are the best you can get.

Multifunctiional and reliable!

Pros
Great for ice and snow
Wide bridge to grab
Cons
Hooked nose can snag on rope or debris
Familiarity

The BD Freewires are an essential tool for any climber! The wire gate beaners allow for use in a wide range of conditions such as snow and ice or comfortably warm summer days.

The hooked nose becomes a nuisance in very steep climbs since removing the draw may become difficult, but it excels on vertical climbs or all kinds! I got a set of 12 of these since they did not break my budget and I knew I could use them for years to come.

Outdoor Gear Lab Gear Review rating 3/5

The Black Diamond FreeWire isn't much to look at at first glance, but we were quickly reminded not to judge a book by its cover. It performs well in most situations (the exception being super steep sport climbing), and if you're more interested in value than esthetics you'll want a set of these draws. If your entire draw rack is made up of scavenged leaver-biners, consider spending a few dollars for this good and durable product.
