Having three options in Long Draw lengths could make it a bit confusing as to which you'd find yourself reaching for the most. Overall, I found that I used the 12" length the most on sport routes and the longest (20") the most on multi-pitch trad routes where roofs or traverses are common. I surprised myself more than once when using all three of these lengths on sport routes when the bolts seemed mostly in-line- but the reduced rope drag and straighter line of the rope told me that they had done their job. And isn't that all we can ask for in a quick (long) draw?

Bottom line, the FS Mini Long draws are always on my rack now whenever I have to backpack into my climbing objectives and the Metolius Curve Hexes are almost always on my rack, especially when doing a lot of the long winding old school routes in Little Cottonwood Canyon. These are honestly two of my favorite discoveries over the past year. I haven’t found a better way to drop weight and add to the fun of climbing.

The folks at Metolius are a crafty bunch. It seems like they are always searching for the next best thing, or how to make existing products that much better. The Master Cams were huge, and then of course we got Offset Master Cams, which fill a small but important niche on any trad rack. Now come two more additions we like: the Long Draw and FS Mini Carabiners.
