While it intended use for aid only, I have used it for trad climbing in smaller then tip cracks. When nothing else fits, it will.

The head is narrow enough that it fits where NOTHING else will (except for small slider nuts)

syriinge style trigger is easy to use and gives accurate placements when you are completely sketched and ready to take flight.

Go to piece in this size (often its the only piece that will fit). In my opinion, fare superior to Aliens, Zeros, Metolius 3-cams

I have taken many whips on these cams. No other cam gives me the confidence that BD Camalots do when placing crux pro. I wouldn't say that you can guarantee safety with these cams, you can't do that with any cam... you should always exercise caution when placing pro... however, if I had triples in this size in my rack all in different brands, I would pick the BD Camalot over them all.
