Description

• Optimal toe rubber coverage
• New TPS (Tension Power System) technology
• New Cinch single pull closure system

The Agro is the ultimate high end bouldering shoe. With the sensitivity of a tensioned thin rubber midsole and optimal toe rubber coverage, the Agro has everything you'll need to send your next project. Newly developed TPS (Tension Power System) technology pulls the forefoot from three different points into a downturned power position, thus maintaining the optimal curvature that often collapses over time on other midsole-less shoes. The new Cinch single pull closure system provides a supportive and powerful fit with an easy entry system and keeps buckles out of the way from aggressive toe hooks.

In honesty, I have been really surprised with the Agro. Before purchasing, I expected this shoe to be similar to a Rolex. Cool to look at, but useless at doing to the job it is meant for. But even after my first day of testing, I knew these shoes meant business. So if you are sick of the solutions, or are just looking for a specialty shoe that will help you conquer your steep sport and bouldering projects, why not give the Agro a try? I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

After all the wear, I don’t have any unnecessary hot spots or wear patterns. The shoe retails for $165, which is average or just a tad lower than shoes competing in the high-end performance market. Overall, another shoe from Evolv that they should be proud of.

This is an area where the Agro deserves credit. The Agro is made with robust materials at the closure, is covered with rubber, and offers enough precision that scraping your foot across the wall is definitely your fault. All this combines to make the Agro super durable, something that I think is often under-appreciated in consumable goods like climbing shoes. After 25 days climbing in the Agro, I haven’t yet had to take it in for a resole, and if there’s any trouble with resoling it given the full-rubber encapsulation of the toe box, I’ll come back and update this review. For now, though, full marks for durability.

Overall, the Agro is a welcomed addition to Evolv’s line of high performance shoes. It is a real boss when it comes to overhanging climbing and is a must have for anyone who specializes in toe hooks or engaging steep bouldering/sport climbing terrain. We found that toe box of the Agro generated a lot of power on overhanging terrain but had difficulty replicating this power on vertical terrain. The toe rand of the Agro was much more sensitive than it looked and provided both sensitivity and power on the rock. Throughout the testing period, we found that this shoe found a good balance between comfort and performance and we really enjoyed climbing in the Agro because of its ability to handle diverse overhanging climbing.
