Description

The new Guide is designed for multi-pitch trad climbs and epic, all-day adventure. We've built the new shoe on our award-winning Anasazi last, with a low-profile flat-toe foot position that's ideal for thin cracks and edges. Ankle to toe lacing allows for a highly-adjustable fit and our new heel cup cradles the heel firmly for security and comfort. The Guide features STEALTH C4 toe rands and outsoles.

Considering that I have used the shoe aggressively on very abrasive rock and in harsh environments, I have not noticed major ware and tear either on the shoe's upper or rubber. That seems fantastic in itself. The shoes edge and sensitivity have worked really well for me on both tiny granite crystals and limestone edges. The rubber has been very effective.

Five Ten has ticked all the right boxes for making the Anasazi Guide a durable and comfortable all day climbing shoe. If you’re looking for something that you can wear day in and day out, have it last a long time, and provide really good climbing ability you should definitely check out the Five Ten Anasazi Guide.

The Five Ten Anasazi Guide is a super-stiff, supportive flat-lasted lace-up for all-day moderate routes, particularly trad climbing in the mountains. This is a great all-day edging boot for chugging tons of moderate terrain. It performs well on hand and fist cracks, but struggles on finger cracks. And while it is comfortable for medium-width feet, it could be improved by better arch support. Size big (street shoe or larger).

Thick-soled and stiff, these rock shoes wear almost like boots—and for day-long routes in the alpine, that’s a good thing. “I’m not going to work my project in these,” said one tester, “but that’s not what they’re for. These are my top choice for long trad lines.” Credit a flat last for all-day comfort, the burly leather upper for enduring the rigors of a season of scuffs and cracks, and the Stealth C4 rubber for sticking to the tiniest of nubbins. “On routes that pack a little bit of everything—stretches of crack climbing, then slab, then a chimney, like some of my favorite routes in the Wind Rivers, these are the shoes to have.” The rigid midsole and flat toe are great for confident edging and toe jams. Downside: Break-in time is longer than average.
