7.9mm Pro Alpine Triaxiale 60m X2
This double rope is proud to be the lightest in the Triaxiale range: 39 g per meter! Designed for expert alpinists, it’s given a Hydrophobic treatment to prevent water absorption (so it’s still light to carry in wet conditions). There is now a UIAA test for this type of rope. The rope is placed on a sloping surface, sprinkled with water, and weighed (pre and post shower). It passes the test if it absorbs no more than 5% of its weight in water. Our Pro Alpine only retains 2%! To achieve this excellent result, we treat all the rope’s constituent threads: both the internal ones (core) and external ones (sheath). They are then polymerized at room temperature so that the effects of the process are long-lasting. Buy it for: The Pro Alpine is the winter rope par excellence, because it’s a season when we carry more weight (because we need more garments and equipment). It’s also the rope for large-scale expeditions – abroad or closer to home. If, for example, you’re going long-haul in the Mont Blanc Massif, a lighter load is highly appreciable.

The UIAA equipment standard provides a baseline for equipment performance in a test lab under controlled conditions on new equipment. Although these test conditions are relevant to the conditions encountered climbing, conditions encountered at the crags and the condition of the equipment are equally important. This recommendation from the UIAA member federation The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) provides vital equipment information that is NOT explicitly addressed in the standard, particularly failure modes of the equipment and recommendations for the use, inspection, maintenance, and retirement of equipment.
